Klinika (UKR) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 30 Pt. 2 Bio: Klinika is a techno duo from Chernivtsi, Ukraine. The project was created in autumn 2008 by two associate and friends - Vitaly Mikhailyuk & Vitaliy Lupashko. Their sharing of general views on electronic music led to the creation of the "Klinika" project and its own musical style: Techno with experimental atmospheres and emphasis on the dark side of the music of machines. From the first day they began to work with Techno, which differed from mainstream, thus making it possible to develop a solid contingent of fans of non-standard sound. In spite of the fact that the duet came to music each by their own way, their production ideas combines ideally, giving birth to that unusual and interesting high-quality new sound. One of the main advantages of the rapid development of their production projects is that Klinika has earned a respected position in the Techno scene and their sound is in the center of attention of many of the most important underground techno labels of the movement. Tom Hades (BEL) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 29 Pt. 3 Bio: Tom Hades started to discover and experiment with electronic music when listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Front 242, ... At the age of 15, he bought his first keyboard, the famous Casio CZ-101 and transformed his game-computer, Amiga 500, into his first DAW. Quickly he got experienced with MIDI-integration and sampling functions, which gave him even more urge for buying/selling new material as addition to his current setup. During the same period, his old schoolfriend, RedHead, was co-producing with Marco Bailey. He got in contact with Marco too which led them in 2000 to their first co-release. And this was the start of a big period of releases, included the anthem of "I Love Techno" in 2001. Have a look at the discography for the complete overview ... In the same year as I Love Techno, Tom started to do live performances. He got more & more experienced and started to play all over the world. His live performance was fully appreciated in countries like Spain, Colombia, Brazil, France, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Japan, Austria, Italy, Norway, Ireland, ... and on many known festivals like Nature One, I Love Techno, City Parade, ... In the first period of 2002, Tom also produced his first solo release. In the next 3-4 years he continued to produce tracks on his own as well as his co-production with Marco on respected labels like MB Elektronics, Pornographic Recordings, Rhythm Convert, Northwest Dynamics, Invasion, Fine Audio, Patterns, Lupp, ... In 2004, they decided it was time to take the next step, start a label. And so Rhythm Convert was born. Initially, the purpose of the label was to give an opportunity to new talents to release their stuff. Guys like Axel Karakasis, Spiros Kaloumenos, Veztax, ... did a very good job to show the people what is was all about. Nowadays, the label is more aimed to produce electro-techno tracks and less oriented towards loopy techno sounds. End 2004, they released their full album, Rude Boy, caused a stirr all over the world. The best proof was their live performance during Nature One @ Pydna were they literally "blew the place to kingdom come" ! His current releases on labels like MB Elektronics & Rhythm Convert are oriented in the same way his musical taste changes, more melodic and even sometimes more dramatic music with flavors of techno, minimal, tekhouse and electro. Nowadays, Tom is busy at concentrating in his next step, to develop his "dj-career". In the near future, you can expect dj-sets with dedication and filled with energy, as known from his live-sets, to give his fans the pleasure of clubbing ! But as every self-respected artist, he will never forget his roots, so live-sets will still be part of his main occupation ! In the means of productions, future releases will certainly be done, as well as a second album together with Marco. Jerome Sydenham (NGR) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 28 in Flight Techno MIx Pt. 3 Bio: Few traveling producer/DJs measure up to the legacy of Ibadan Records’ Jerome Sydenham. Nothing short of a modern music visionary who cut his teeth as an A&R rep for Atlantic Records during the peak of the 90s New York house era. Now residing in Berlin, he’s still at the cutting edge of dance music; pioneering it through its various mutations over the years. Jerome’s illustrious music career took off in the early nineties as part of an A&R team that launched the careers of legendary vocal house group Ten City, as well as pioneering house producers like Kerri Chandler, Pal Joey and Murk. His own imprint – Ibadan Records – started its journey in 1996 with a string of house music classics, including the hit rework of Nina Simone’s “See Line Woman”, produced in collaboration with long-term friend Kerri Chandler. His album Saturday – co-produced with Kerri – clearly displayed his production range and musical ability as deftly displayed on tracks like “Rising The Sun”. A timeless recording capable of working even the most finicky of dancefloors into a frenzy. By 2002, Sydenham started to move away from the sound of New York that was his roots. While vocal and afro-house prevailed in New York house clubs, Sydenham chose to represent a new era in melodic tech-house and launched his 10” Beats series. With releases like the crossover deep tech-house record “Timbuktu” and the mammoth “Sandcastles” – co-produced with Dennis Ferrer – the label marked a major turning point in the global house scene. 2006 finally saw Jerome leave New York behind for the European shores of the Danish capitol, Denmark. There he launched Avocado Records with Danish producer, Rune. Shortly thereafter he founded Apotek Records, a platform for his growing passion for techno. A move to Berlin in 2007, found Sydenham in the heart of a vibrant techno community and it was here that a musical resurrection occurred. Ostgut Ton enlisted his remix services for Len Faki’s “Rainbow Delta”, resulting in a bona fide throbbing, techno classic. Not long afterwards his “Elephant” collaboration with Danish producer Rune on Apotek rocked throughout the house and techno worlds. Riding this wave of momentum Jerome continued to craft a series of splendid remixes such as Carl Craig’s “Angel” on Planet E, Adam Beyer & Joel Mull “Forming Dies” on Drumcode, and another for Planetary Assault Systems “GT” (Function & Jerome Sydenham Remix) on Mote Evolver. Even with all this success in techno, Jerome never forgot his roots, as represented by his Kerri Chandler-esque Flora Cruz hit remix in 2009. Ravenously licensed to house compilations across multiple territories. Collaboratively, he’s been as active as ever, recently remixing Dennis Ferrer’s “The Red Room” with The Martinez Brothers on Ferrer’s Objektivity. Ibadan’s 100th release “White Light” co-produced with another NYC techno veteran – Function – has been one of the labels most sought after contemporary release. The duo also teamed up to remix “Two Ninety-One” on Chris Leibing’s CLR label. Most recently he has put his stellar A&R touch to Greek producer Argy’s full-length album “Fundamentals”, which saw the light of day on Ibadan Records last Autumn to critical acclaim. Currently, he’s developing a new Berlin based Greek artist called Quell. His touring schedule hasn’t let up, including regular appearances at Berlin’s famed Berghain and Panorama Bar, which has recently hosted an Ibadan Records showcase. One would think that there are more hours in Jerome Sydenham’s day, as with all this going, he’s still found time to produce an album. ‘Animal Social Club‘, will be dropping this fall on Ibadan Records. Alexander Kowalski (DE) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 28 Pt. 2 Bio: Kowalski was born in 1978 in Greifswald, German Democratic Republic. He moved to Berlin with his family in 1986. In the beginning of the 90's the first techno releases from Detroit came to Berlin, and Kowalski was a big fan of those. Later on, he started making music on his Amiga, and in 1997 he bought equipment with a friend and arranged a studio. His first production "The Wide Theatre" was then released on the Tresor Headquarters Compilation (Tresor 094) under the name DisX3. That kick-started his career. Techno has many faces - and in recent years, with the emergence of Alexander Kowalski, the German Techno scene has gained a new shooting star. At the end of the nineties he became known through his first live acts in Berlins' most known techno club, Tresor. In 2002 he made his musical break-through with the release of his second full length, "Progress", an album which was highly acclaimed by both fans and critics alike. Today Alexander Kowalski is a new star in the Techno sky, and a greatly demanded live act, producer and remixer. Kowalski elegantly fuses elements from classic Detroit and historical Berlin techno sound. His affection for sophisticated bass lines, deep beats and challenging arrangements breathes new life into Techno. He knows perfectly how to program his tracks to sound straight, deep, housy, dubby or funky - and this versatility is one of the reasons for his reputation under both ravers and underground-oriented techno nerds. In August 2003 his new album "Response" appears on the German label Kanzleramt - and the critics are already enthusiastic: Kowalski is on the front cover of Raveline and Groove (08/2003), the two most important German dance music magazines. DJ OGI (CRO) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 27 - RETRO TECHNO MIX Pt. 2 Bio: DJ Ogi got into Croatian electronic music scene in 1995. He is the founder of Rijeka's techno scene and also one of the leading people of today's Croatian electronic music scene. He's an associate of “X-music” show and one of the starters of “Energetica Music” show, both at Radio Crikvenica. Being a proud member of “Energetica Team”, an organization for promoting electronic music, Ogi was one of the people who organized one of the greatest open air festivals in Croatia, “Exotica”. His style has always been based on hard techno, and even today it's a combination of pumping hard techno and dark elements, marked and well rounded with his beastly mixing technique on 3 decks.
